New Mahindra Bolero Debuts with Modern Features and 30 kmpl Mileage

The Mahindra Bolero is a rugged and reliable SUV known for its durability and suitability for rough roads and rural terrains. The current model is powered by a 1.5-litre mHawk75 diesel engine, which meets the BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. It is a rear-wheel-drive vehicle with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Bolero’s strength lies in its practicality, simple build, low maintenance, and ability to handle challenging driving conditions.

Engine & Performance

The 1,493 cc diesel motor generates about 75 bhp at 3,600 rpm and 210 Nm of torque in the 1,600-2,200 rpm range. This powertrain gives adequate pulling power for both highways and rough roads, though acceleration is modest. The fuel efficiency ratings are around ~16 kmpl under ARAI testing conditions.

Dimensions & Capacity

Bolero is a fairly large SUV with a length of about 3,995 mm, width of 1,745 mm, height approximately 1,880 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. It provides seating for 7 people across three rows. The fuel tank capacity is 60 litres. Boot space is listed around 384 litres.

Suspension, Tyres & Driving Dynamics

For its suspension, the front uses an Independent Front Suspension (IFS) with coil springs, while the rear relies on rigid leaf springs. Brake setup includes a front disc and a rear drum brake. The tyres are sized 215/75 R15, steel wheels with full wheel caps. Ground clearance is about 180-183 mm.

Features & Variants

Bolero is offered in 3 variants: B4, B6, and B6 Opt. Prices (ex-showroom) range from ~ ₹9.79 lakh for the base B4 to around ₹10.90 lakh for the top model. Colour options include Diamond White, DSAT Silver, and Lakeside Brown, with some variants having limited colour choices. Common features are power steering, rear centre armrest, adjustable headrests, USB charging outlets, fabric seats, ABS, TPMS. Safety includes dual airbags (in higher variants) etc.

Pricing & Fuel Economy

The ex-showroom prices start from around ₹9.79 lakh and go up to approximately ₹10.91 lakh depending on variant. The mileage in real-world conditions may vary but is close to the official ~16 kmpl under ARAI conditions. Fuel cost and maintenance tend to be lower compared to many modern SUVs because of the simpler mechanics.
